Advertising & Marketing
What advertising and marketing practices may violate the law?
What should I do?
Ensure that our claims are truthful. All advertising claims about our products, whether in the media or on product packaging, must be truthful and have a reasonable basis in fact.
Support our claims with evidence. In the U.S., the Federal Trade Commission requires that all advertising claims are supported with evidence in advance of their release. This includes any television advertisements in the U.S. and abroad.
Obtain Legal Department approval of all claims. All advertising and product claims, regardless of form, must be reviewed and approved by Coty’s Legal Department prior to being released to the public in any way.
Q&A
A: No. The fact that it can be changed later would not justify its release without Legal Department approval. Even where the advertising is digital instead of print, its release to the public could still violate the law.
